§ 2-74. Appointment and qualifications of Special Magistrate.

  • The Special Magistrate(s) shall be appointed by the Town Council, who may appoint as many as may be reasonably required to conduct the necessary hearings. The Special Magistrate(s) must be an attorney who is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar. The Special Magistrate shall be bound by the Code of Judicial Conduct. The Special Magistrate shall be authorized to hold hearings and impose monetary penalties, liens and other noncriminal penalties against violators. No Special Magistrate shall hold any other governmental office.
