§ 44-2. Compensatory leave.

  • (a)

    Any legal authorized holiday occurring during an employee's earned and authorized leave with pay, or occurring on the employee's day off, or when an employee is out of work on authorized sick time, shall entitle such employee to extra compensation equal to the amount of compensation for a normal day's work or compensatory time off at the rate of pay for a normal workday.

    (b)

    All employees, except appointed personnel, who are required or authorized to work on holidays falling on regularly scheduled workdays shall, in addition to their regular pay, receive eight hours pay at 1½ times their rate of pay for a normal workday or compensatory time at 1½ times the eight hours (i.e., 12 hours).

    (c)

    Any employee who has accumulated compensatory leave time shall be entitled to convert such time to cash and receive payment for such compensatory time at his rate of pay prevailing on the date of conversion. Any employee wishing to exercise such right of cash conversion shall be required to give at least two weeks' written notice of such request to the office of the Town Clerk except when such request is made at the end of the town's fiscal year or at the end of the town's calendar year, during which periods four weeks' written notice shall be required.
